Israel, Rehovot, May 9, 2013 – World renowned research and analysis firm, Gartner, Inc., this week named Landa Digital Printing one of five “Cool Vendors in Imaging and Print Services, 2013”. Landa has developed a unique printing process called Nanography™ that will enable digital printing for mainstream applications.

Nanography, also called the Landa Nanographic Printing™ process, bridges the profitability gap where neither offset nor digital technologies enable printers to profitably produce run-lengths of up to 7,000 copies. Nanography is expected to significantly increase printers’ profitability in the $800 billion offset-printed goods market.

The Landa Nanographic Printing process combines the versatility of digital printing with the qualities and speed of offset in a single press. Unlike other digital technologies that require special substrates for printing, Nanography can print on any standard off-the-shelf paper and plastic substrate. In one of its key findings, Gartner reports that “A print technology that is able to print on virtually any paper or film will address key issues facing the digital printing industry.”[1]

In its first iterations, Landa will deliver two large format B1 sheetfed presses (41 in. / 1050 mm), the Landa S10C Nanographic Printing™ Press for commercial printing and the Landa S10FC Nanographic Printing Press for packaging converters. The S10FC will also have an analog inline coating unit that will support both aqueous and UV coatings. Following the introduction of the large format sheetfed presses, Landa will release the Landa W10 Nanographic Printing Press a 40.1 in. (1020 mm) webfed press for flexible packaging converters and the Landa W50 Nanographic Printing Press a 22 in. (560 mm) double-sided webfed press for publishing printers.

“Gartner analysts have done a superb, in-depth job in comprehensively understanding and conveying the work we’re doing to fulfill a tremendous gap in the marketplace,” says Benny Landa, founder and CEO of Landa Digital Printing. “We are honored and motivated by such distinguished third-party affirmation.”

The “Cool Vendor in Imaging and Print Services, 2013” report also addresses licensing agreements Landa has announced with conventional digital and offset press manufacturers (i.e., Heidelberg, Komori, manroland sheetfed).

About Landa
Landa Digital Printing is part of the Landa group. Its Nanographic Printing™ technology bridges the industry’s “Profitability Gap” – cost-effectively producing short-to-medium runs. Landa Nanographic Printing™ Presses yield the lowest cost per digitally printed page in the industry and combines the versatility of digital with the qualities and speed of offset. Founded by Benny Landa, the Landa group also includes Landa Labs, the group’s innovation engine that explores nanotechnology for use in alternative energy, pigments, and other materials; Landa Ventures, which invests in related technology firms; and the Landa Fund, which helps underprivileged youths pursue higher education.

Associations Unite to Make Global Advertising Workflows a Reality

Ghent, Belgium – With the maturation of digital advertising workflows and a new emphasis on globalization, the Ghent Workgroup (GWG) and IDEAlliance announce a partnership on the development of a GWG/IDEAlliance Ad Ticket Specification V2.0. This joint Specification represents a global collaboration to define a single set of fields that foster end-to-end automation in the advertising supply chain. The cornerstone of this Specification is the identification of – and an agreement to – a set of ad ticket metadata fields that are universally required and accepted by all publishers.

The Specification can be downloaded from: www.gwg.org/Jobtickets.phtml or from http://www.idealliance.org/specifications/digital-ad-lab.

The Joint GWG/IDEAlliance Print Ad Ticket Specification represents the next major revision of the GWG Ad Ticket Version 1.3, and serves as the basis for the IDEAlliance ADAM (Asset Delivery Advertising Metadata) Portal Interface Guide Version 1.0.

According to David Steinhardt, President and CEO of IDEAlliance, “Deploying a digital ad ticket is a must to streamline the print advertising value chain. As pressure grows on print advertising, supply chain partners must find ways to reduce costs and speed the flow of information. We are pleased to be collaborating with the Ghent Workgroup on the development of a print ad ticket specification, and working with GWG on the future development of a standard digital ad ticket for tablet advertising.”

Says David Zwang, Chairman of the Ghent Workgroup, “In our continuing effort to develop best practices to support the global publishing and print supply chain, this update and extension of the original GWG Ad Ticket Specification is a milestone. We strongly believe that collaborating with other international industry standards and best practices organizations is the way to achieve the best end result and widest adoption, and this joint effort with IDEAlliance is a great example of that.”

About Ad Tickets
Within the advertising supply chain, the process wherein a materials supplier delivers print ad materials to the publisher, for placement in a magazine or newspaper, has traditionally required an unexpectedly high volume of communications by phone, fax and emails. Inefficiencies in the delivery, production and final ad placement have added unacceptable levels of time and expense to a process that should be straightforward. The solution to this workflow problem is the use of a digital Ad Ticket or Job Ticket. The Ad Ticket details pertinent data including the date, the name of the materials supplier, the name of the client, and the printing or production instructions to be followed; and may also serve as a record-keeping document.

The first attempt to create a standard Ad Ticket was done by the AdsML Consortium in 2003. This Ad Ticket captured 8 screens of data about the Ad, and was simply too complex to be widely adopted. Then, in 2008, GWG collaborated with AdsML to produce a streamlined version of the Ad Ticket. While this Ad Ticket enjoyed some adoption in Europe, little adoption was found in the US due to differences in business practices between the US and Europe.

The Joint Specification now available was engineered with the benefit of understanding why these previous attempts failed.

About IDEAlliance

Special introductory pricing: both products for the price of one

Miamisburg, OH and Quebec, Canada – February 21, 2013 – Enfocus and Dynagram are pleased to announce a special bundle package combining PitStop Pro 11 and inpO2 5.0 Wizard. Together, the two Adobe Acrobat plug-ins give small print shops a single solution to preparing PDF files for printing on digital and offset printers or presses – and thereby combining two of the most frequently used tools for the price of one.

Dynagram inpO2 Wizard offers an easy and simple way for quick printers to generate complete layouts in just a few steps. Professionals can create impositions for folded or flat works of any size. The process only requires operators upload their PDF files, choose a binding style, identify sheet size and marks, and print.

Enfocus PitStop is the industry-leading preflight and file optimization tool for printing PDF files. It can detect and correct among hundreds of common problems encountered by prepress operators, including missing fonts, incorrect colors, missing bleeds, and much more. The latest version features Smart Preflight, allowing printers to customize checks for each job right at run time, and according to the specific production requirements. This ensures that the file prints exactly the way it is intended to.

“The advantages of using the Enfocus and Dynagram bundle are undeniable,” says Josée Dutil, Dynagram’s Sales Director. “We give quick printers complete and reliable control over the entire print production process and output results. They can rest assured knowing that they can now easily master both preflighting and imposition; perhaps the two most critical processes to efficient, quality turnaround.”

“In today’s hyper-competitive printing industry, small commercial shops and quick printers need an efficient way to prep files and get them printed with as few ‘touches’ as possible,” says Alex Hamilton, Director of Business Development for Enfocus. “This bundle gives them a fast, easy and inexpensive way to make sure they are printing the job correctly while maximizing the use of space on the press sheet.”

Pricing and Availability
This special bundle is being offered exclusively to printers in the United States and Canada, for a suggested retail price of $799 until August 31, 2013. Both releases also include new value-add features such as Split Pages, as well as improvements to existing functions. The further development of Smart Preflight enables more dynamically-driven workflow functionality, improving productivity and preflight accuracy.

“For our more than 130,000 PitStop users worldwide, this latest update will be welcome news,” says Andrew Bailes-Collins, Senior Product Manager at Enfocus. “With this release, we demonstrate our commitment to keeping pace with the newest releases of world-standard software and operating systems. At the same time, we continuously add sought-after features and functionality based on customer input. This is part of our philosophy to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, and underlines our industry-leading position.”

Improved functionality equals greater productivity and fewer errors

These Update 2 releases bring a number of new advantages and efficiencies for users of both PitStop Pro and PitStop Server. “Our objective with these releases is to enhance even more the ability for printers, publishers and designers to quickly and easily fix last-minute file problems, and decrease the amount of manual work required for these professionals to accomplish their day-to-day work,” says Bailes-Collins. “Early user feedback has been extremely positive. We are confident our users of PitStop Pro 11 and PitStop Server 11 will enjoy the benefits enabled by this free upgrade.”

System support: printers and publishers can now seamlessly deploy the Enfocus solutions as they upgrade their Microsoft environments, with the full support for Windows 8 (for PitStop Pro and PitStop Server) and Microsoft Server 12 (for PitStop Server). PitStop Pro now offers full support for Adobe Acrobat XI Standard and Pro, which will also be highly appreciated by designers.

Split Pages: a new global change in PitStop Pro – also available as an action – allows users to split pages in half, either vertically or horizontally. This is especially useful for designers, printers and publishers who receive PDF files as double page spreads and require a single page for their workflow. This new feature can even be used for de-imposing of completely imposed PDF files.

New predefined Action Lists: three new pre-defined Action Lists – available in PitStop Pro and PitStop Server – make the ‘Split Pages in Half’ action more efficient, reducing valuable prepress time for printers and publishers. Action Lists encompass the three mostly commonly used page sizes: A4, A5 and US Letter.

Enhanced Preflight Profile Editor: allows users to turn Action Lists off and on from within the Editor, with an easy check-box interface that specifies whether or not an Action List should run. In PitStop Pro, users can now also edit an Action List directly in the Preflight Profile Editor, without the need to export, edit and re-import.

A new, scaled Preflight Report in both PitStop Pro and PitStop Server makes a low resolution version of the report on an A4 page size that can easily be emailed. This will be of particular interest for users with PDF files with very large dimensions, such as those used in large format printing, as the previous annotated reports were too large in size to allow this before.

Smart Preflight for accurate and efficient PDF preflight & correction
Enfocus is continuously extending the power of its Smart Preflight concept, with new functionality that drives productivity even further. When Smart Preflight is used within PitStop Pro, users can now select values to be used within the Preflight Profile or Action List from a user-defined dropdown menu. This is not only a faster way to access these actions, but it allows printers and publishers to eliminate human error and reduce the level of expertise required to engage Smart Preflight.

Variable Sets can now be locked and encrypted, just as Preflight Profiles and Action Lists can be protected in both PitStop Pro and PitStop Server. This protects the Variable Set from being edited or copied. In addition, Action Lists in the Preflight Profile Editor can be controlled by a Boolean variable, making PDF preflighting more dynamic.

Availability
The respective Update 2 releases are immediately available at no charge to existing users of PitStop Pro 11 and PitStop Server 11, as well as users of the more recent Update 1 versions. Both products can be downloaded from the Enfocus website, www.enfocus.com.
Ghent, Belgium – February 8, 2013 – Enfocus today announces its plans for the 38th annual Graphics of the Americas show, to be held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, USA, on February 21-23, 2013. Enfocus Channel Sales Manager Steve Hosford will present a special session: “Workflow Automation – More than Just Print Automation” on Thursday, February 21, at 2 pm at the Expo Theatre on the show floor.

Attendees can also see demonstrations of the newest versions of PitStop Pro and Switch automation, the award-winning products for graphic designers and printers.

“We are excited to present our Switch automation solution to the worldwide crowd at GOA,” says Hosford. “We receive highly positive response to these presentations because most printers know that automation can help them – they just don’t understand how, until we show them. It’s a very simple, low investment, and yields such a large return.”

Enfocus Automation Session – Thursday, February 21, 2:00-2:45 pm
Workflow Automation is more than just print automation; it’s about faster and more efficient processing throughout an entire operation, including job receiving, job sorting and routing, quality assurance, status reporting, prepress processing, archiving and a whole lot more. In this practical session, Hosford will feature real-life examples from Switch-automated work sites and share the basics of automation, including evidence-based justification to management, and the down-and-dirty, Do’s & Don’ts of putting automation into action.

On-site demonstrations at Intergraph booth #701

At Intergraph (booth 701) – Enfocus’ distributor to the Latin American market – show attendees will have the opportunity to watch one-on-one demonstrations, and try-out Enfocus’ powerful software, themselves.

Enfocus Switch allows users to accomplish repetitive tasks associated with receiving, sorting, and processing files automatically. Switch’s automation of these tasks standardizes processes, reduces errors, and frees up resources; resulting in substantial savings in time and money. By automating such tasks, Switch makes time available for activities that create added value; such as customer service, design, marketing and sales opportunities, or otherwise concentrating on core business services.

Popular Enfocus PitStop Pro preflighting technology is an industry standard. PitStop Pro 11 introduces Smart Preflight & Correction- a flexible way for designers to preflight and correct files to their specific production requirements. Smart Preflight is more powerful and accurate than previous PitStop preflight solutions, resulting in higher quality PDFs.

Hosford says, “We encourage current users of Enfocus products, and those who would like to see how our technology can benefit operations within their own company, to visit us at the Intergraph booth, as there is an endless list of new features and upgrades available.”
